OT warning....OT.........

I thought you all would like to know about "broadband" satellite ISP now offered through Dish network.
Dish network has set up some kind of partnership with Starband ISP. The company I signed the contract with is identified as Dish Network Starband HSI Service.

There are two services offered by Starband. One that requires you to buy a computer from them is not through Dish Network. The one that is through Dish network allows you to use your own computer.

So far I am not happy. They installed this thing. They knew that leaving the networking card in the computer would completely goof everything up. And they left it that way. I got this yesterday. I've called technical support 5 times, waited on hold for 45 minutes about each time, and finally got someone to tell me to pull the networking card out of the computer. This is rediculous! The software they installed overwrote my Explorer and now all I have is their version of Explorer. Have still gotten a couple error messages saying my browser is "unstable". And the computer seems to be acting sluggish. This is after having to turn it off by the main switch in the back a few times since yesterday because it would freeze up when trying to shut down. And they tried to tell me that whatever they did had nothing to do with that. Getting the networking card out of the puter pretty much straightened everything out. The service is still not up to what they "guarantee"; which is supposed to be 50K upload and 150k download. It runs more around and below 50K for both up and download too much of the time. But at least I can log onto my bank, brokerage, streaming audio/video without being cut off (that ended with the networking card going out also). I am not happy so far with this. I went to far as to call Dish Network and ask them why I should keep paying if I'm not getting what I signed up for in the contract? They threatened me with breach of contract...I told them directly that I am holding them in breach of contract as of now. I think perhaps that is what motivated Starband to finally tell me to pull the networking card out of the computer.
