>>So why is Korea restricting production?<<
the koreans are desperate. imho, no more or less desperate than everyone else, including micron. in fact, mu ought to be more desperate.
so, what are they trying to accomplish? it is called a telegraphed pass. they announce to the world, wink, wink, that they will try and manipulate the price of dram and, wink, wink, this might be a good time for you to do the same, wink wink.
they are hoping. unrealistic, imho, but hoping others will jump in and help.
cutting their production 30% has got to jack their costs up dramatically. i doubt they even reap that much of a reward by these types of actions unless, wink, wink, everyone jumps on boards.
they aren't trying all that hard, though. why? pricing is still below cost. last time they jacked up pricing so mu made $100 mil in 1 q. not this time.
korea may go under. if they do they can take a lot of people with them. especially those companies extremely leveraged in dram with little relative financial resources - aka, mu.
your bet is worth taking, but not at $27 per share - $5.5 billion dollar market cap. |
