Huawei Gets CDMA Kudos

COSTA MESA, Calif. -- The CDMA Development Group (CDG) today congratulates Huawei Technologies on its completion of a 450 MHz CDMA2000(r) 1X network for Mobisel in Indonesia. As part of the upgrade, Huawei Technologies provided a complete end-to-end CDMA450 solution including the base station, switching system and user terminals. The CDMA450 technology allows Mobisel to migrate their NMT450, analog network directly to 3G.

"The CDG congratulates Huawei on its CDMA2000 products," said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDG. "CDMA450 is a high-performance and cost-effective end-to-end network solution based on CDMA2000 1X that allows carriers in 450 MHz to rapidly progress to 3G high-quality voice and high-speed data services."

CDMA450 uses the 3G CDMA2000 1X interface and provides voice capacity and high-speed data up to 153 kbps. It offers better propagation and broader coverage than other technologies translating into fewer base stations and low deployment costs. CDMA450 offers a direct path to 3G for a large base of NMT-450 operators, and provides a cost effective solution for universal services to sparsely populated areas.

The market for CDMA450 is rapidly expanding. There are seven commercial networks in Asia, Russia and Eastern Europe and trials are taking place in Russia, Asia and Latin America.
