I looked closely a few days back, when retailers were all getting smacked pretty good. I held off adding, as it looks like the picture has changed some.
There was mention of a delay in the spinoff of Eckard, due to performance issues. Earnings were below my expectations. With a new CEO, I expect there will be additional charges to cover changes implemented.
I believe it will be at least a couple of months before the CEO establishes an action plan, and JCP could be drifting in the indecision that results when the future vision gets muddy.
I hope I am wrong, already owning some shares, but I think it may get a little darker before the sun rises. I continue to watch closely, and may pull the trigger soon.
A good drop in the indexes would certainly encourage me to take on some more risk. Given the energy and interest rate situations, I have trouble deploying more capital with the indexes so close to their peak. So for now, my caution won over valour. |
