Voice Mobility Signs Three-year Deal With Calgary-based Shift Networks
Agreement is first with a Building Local Exchange Carrier (BLEC)
VANCOUVER, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ - Voice Mobility International, Inc., (OTCBB: VMII and FWB: VMY) developer of the Unified Communications(TM) software suite, has signed a three-year agreement with Shift Networks Inc. to sell Voice Mobility's Unified Communications solution.
Shift Networks deploys leading technology solutions that deliver data, voice, video, and applications over a single network to small and medium-sized businesses within key commercial, multi-tenant buildings. Shift installed their first network node in Calgary in November and plans to deploy to 50 buildings in Calgary by the end of 2001. Within the next 18 months, Shift anticipates installing its solution in over 300 buildings across Canada.
"Our software suite helps individuals control their communications needs, whether they spend 100% of their time in an office or 100% on the road," says Jay Hutton, Voice Mobility's Chief Executive Officer. "BLECs, like Shift Networks, are an excellent vehicle to bring our solution directly to corporate customers because it can easily be bundled with other data and voice applications."
Voice Mobility's Unified Communications software suite puts control of personal communications back in the hands of users by bringing together office, home, cell phone, fax, pager and other numbers into a single phone number, and by combining multiple voice-mail boxes into one mailbox.
"We chose Voice Mobility's Unified Communications software suite over a number of other suppliers because we wanted a carrier grade, robust product that was developed and serviced in Canada," says Keith Young, Shift Networks' President and COO. "In addition, Voice Mobility's pricing model means that the company is committed to their product and willing to share the risks and rewards of its success."
Under the terms of the agreement, Voice Mobility will initially install a server at Shift's Calgary Network Operating Centre (NOC) with initial capacity to host approximately 10,000 customers. As Shift Networks expands its operations into Edmonton and across Canada, additional servers can quickly be installed at a number of other locations and integrated into the company's network.
