I would like to echo Ed Ryder's comments - particularly after speaking with tech types at ESRI and GIS. They are not aware of the SCNG management talent - but they were certainly aware of the Sedona team -that I understand came over from Lockheed-Martin - and gave them high marks. One can also talk to ordinary surveyors and municipal planners - who understand the potential and look forward to this technology. One analysis done of SCNG a couple years back details the strengths, opportunities, and weaknesses of the company. At that time it appeared that competition from companies with bigger marketing muscle was a potential problem - in spite of having good product. I would like to know if the consortium approach to open GIS standards - with some big players on the team - will help ward off competition. It also seems that a significant part of this will be the consortium's willingness to adopt and license Sedona's technology in open GIS development. Mike H
