"... not downloading properly...no animation..."
"... this page for example bmwusa.com "

My comment here is indirect in that I'am using Windows 3.1
but sometimes I can observe something unusual when the
rest of the folks having the latest & greatest pc stuff don't.
-
My browser of Opera may be old, but its quite good and allows
me to access most all web sites. One very big exception is:
"... this page for example bmwusa.com "
-
Usually I get error or warning messages when the web site
tries to present fancy bells & whistles to my screen,
as it will NOT detect certain "feedback" from my browser
and determine that it cannot handle this web site's construction,
and simply say "Sorry" and stop.
-
This BMW site does not follow that pattern, but tries to supply
my browser with instructions and either waits forever or does
as you mentioned, a partial loading and nothing else.
-
Most likely whomever creates fancy web sites like BMW do two
mistakes, as possibles.
(1) Uses stuff most browers can not handle
and
(2) does not do good error handling.
-
I forget what pc and browser you just mentioned,
but if thecow can get a few volunteers of the different Windows
and browsers to take one step forward...
... or the rest of us can take one step backwards :o)
then we can compare results going to
"... this page for example bmwusa.com "
and most likely its not a problem just on your pc.
