Steve: The advertisers might correctly understand the trends toward access of AOL's services via the internet. The large sums invested in their advertising sites certainly provides credibility for their position. They may not, however, have realized the financial implications for AOL of this change in access patterns. Why should the advertisers have spotted this when even the analysts have yet to recognize it?
