Ultra-deepwater drilling rig availability dries up Martyn Wingrove - Friday 22 February 2008 THERE are no ultra-deepwater drilling rigs available to hire in 2008 and only two in the market for 2009 after Ocean Rig’s Eirik Raude semi-submersible rig was chartered by Tullow Oil in a $700m deal, writes Martyn Wingrove. So add even more years before drilling can make it's marginal difference. India/China demand growth will dwarf any deep water supplies we eventually, sometime get. "Drill now, drill today..." are just Republican talking points... they don't solve the problem, not even close.
