dper, The total cost for Paris-Lyon-Paris for two was about US$100, and that was for first class seats. Paris-Lyon is similar to LA-SF. TGF would sure beat Southwest and Reno Air any day for me. I would find the extra time to take the train if was as convenient and as comfortable as the TGV train. The extra expense would be more than worth the extra value - sort of like Intel chips vs. the competitions. Barry
