i used to run mcafee because i got it for free with a new system. when i needed to upgrade, i found their support to be, well, there is no adjective to describe it. their documented upgrade procedures were awful. finally, i asked 2 very good technicians to help me. they laughed and would not deal with mcafee support.nor did they know anyone else who would. that was about 1 year ago. maybe they have cleaned up their act since.
i have also had problems with norton's upgrade procedures. however, my technician friends have been able to read norton's instructions and, ultimately, resolve the problems.
so, perhaps my remark was a bit of hyperbole, however, based on my technician friends' experience, and my own, i would not suggest that anyone deal with mcafee.notwithstanding, do i believe that mcafee can fix virus problems? sure. but if things go wrong,as they invariably do, i would not want to rely on mcafee's support infrastructure on a continuing basis.
