Keith: Hard to directly compare technical advantages of DSL vs. cable (the old apples to oranges thing). Many different levels to view this from (as you say, economical, timeframe are vital also). We can probably limit xDSL to ADSL for 'deployed service' comparisons with cable, but shouldn't ignore other DSL potential. Can't ignore DBS/MMDS/LMDS completely either (especially in other countries for MMDS/LMDS/DVB-S). By "cable hookups to the home" do you mean 2-way vs. telco return, %coax..? This is definitely not a one post answer. Also, we shouldn't limit ourselves to "to the home." "Within the home" will become more apparent (i.e. visible in the press) once "to the home" becomes better established. Many small, unheard of companies in this area.
