WAVO broadcasts web content using part of the frequency
for public TV channels.

Interesting, you would think broadcasters would already be
doing this--do they need to convert to digital first? Maybe
any plans by the local broadcast stations to do this were
stalled by the hdtv mess. Would be cool to check off a list
of sites that you most frequent, and have the entire content
stored locally, updating as neccessary over the course of
each day--much better than having the newspaper slap against
the front of the house at 4am.

But I wonder if the run up in the primary internet portal's
stocks is partly due to a trend toward consoladatation--
instead of visiting a dozen specialty websites, more is
swallowed up by msnbc.com or yahoo, not too neat if your
local broadcaster says that it's internet programming will
consist of the contents of the network's website--and nothing
else. Hope that is not the future, but I think it is. I guess
one could expect to have a fluffy internet newspaper delivered
each nite, but then have to get online for specialty information
and usenet.

It is interesting to me, that even as the internet stocks
have soared, the internet has not become dramatically more
useful than it was a year ago. How will yahoo and excite
every justify their share prices?

Will be interesting to watch wavo Monday tho.
