I'm holding MSFT and probably will until I die.
The recent run-up does make me wonder if it's getting ahead of itself. A PE in the low to mid 30s is unprecendented for a 70B (market cap) company, but then MSFT isn't your ordinary company. There may be better 6-month investments, but there are probably few better 10-year investments. I'm not too concerned about MSFT running out of steam or reaching saturation. NT will overtake Unix, SQL Server will (probably) catch up to Oracle et al, and while they won't rule the internet, they'll carve out a sizeable chunk. There's an excellent article in this month's Wired (June I think) about how MSFT's grand plans for domination in various new markets. I expect MSFT to grow earnings at 20% a year or more, forever.
