Something to consider that many have forgotten as of late. Retracements are part of going UP.

Off the top of my head MSFT has near a dozen retracements of 30%

Amat had a handful of 30%

Apple over the years has had many.

Some stocks retrace and never turn back up.

Some stocks do so and keep on keeping. Netflix and from 240 ish to 57 ish to 300 ish.

It's not the end of the world for an index to pull back. In fact to not pullback after an extreme increase should cause one to be concerned.

So we've see spx move up dramatically from the 670 ish. Yet along the way were some healthy pullbacks.

As of late that dynamic is MIA.

Finally if a long term investor based his view that a stock had to turn up or down on a date many would be flushed out of the APPLES from 2002 Many would be flushed out of a GE off it's bottom.

Lately I'm reading more and more from the timers as if their work and dtae is the ONLY DATE. Hardly! Many of those timers never held most stocks 3-5 years. Most flick in and out of indexes. NOT a thing wrong with such but the dialogue has become very rigid. My WAY of the HIGHWAY.

Fact is in hindsight all those who put up the it will happen this minute of that minute or day are but a pimple to those who held onto MSFT off it's original cost or many others. Amazon is a classic and those who played the game of TA only with AMAZON left lots from 4-well into the 200's.

All to say for objective discussion re up or down.

Instead of trying to time something exactly. Do the due dilignece to support a position up or down and not get caught selling just because someone says Amazon is going to zero due to concerns re financing. Really? or BAC is going to Zero. Really Or touching or failure to touch a number will affect the long term prospects of a company. Look at how many times GE failed at 22 ish and many gave up on 27.

Those holding BAC don't ignore the % move up, the sectors it's in and it's strings. OR 14.58+1.62= 16.20 and where did the selling begin in 2011?

To the down 14.58 is a pivot I use and then it's 14.58-.54-.54.=?

On the fundamental side who thinks BAC or JPM will not be subjected to more fines and other in the future. NOT ME.

IMO
