Company Press Release
Vertel Corporation Announces the Release of An e*ORB Publish and Subscribe Software Package
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2000--Vertel Corporation (Nasdaq:VRTL - news), a leading provider of mediation software for telecommunications networks, announced the immediate availability of e*ORB Notification Service, a CORBA-based publish and subscribe software package.

e*ORB Notification Service is the first publish and subscribe software designed for embedded applications. In company benchmark tests it performs five times faster than its nearest competitor. The service is used in a demonstration at SuperComm in Atlanta to provide a publish and subscribe channel between a Windows NT server and a variety of handheld devices that operate on the Palm OS and Windows CE platforms.

Yesterday the company announced its first customer for the e*ORB Notification Service, Eastcom of the People's Republic of China. e*ORB Notification Service is a significant development because it allows for devices to dynamically subscribe to distributed services and applications in dynamically evolving network environments, such as the wireless Internet.

``Our customers are looking for more sophisticated communications solutions for their embedded and Internet devices,'' said Cyrus Irani, president and COO, Vertel. ``e*ORB Notification Service extends Internet services and functionality down to the handheld device level.''
