Wise words. I said 12 years ago I thought the far right would destroy the GOP and it seems to have come true.
Young people today accept birth control as SOP along with abortion if needed and hopefully not needed.
Indeed. They also accept gay marriage as do many "regular Christians" I know who are quite religious but also accepting of others and the idea of women's right to choose. Many close to me in this category think I am a moron for not hating Bush2 and voting Libertarian rather than for Obama this time around. (I REFUSED to vote for ANY incumbents after they let this whole fiscal cliff and no budget occur in the first place. We should have tossed them ALL out, including the president... but I understand how most find the social issues more important than the money... especially since it is not their money.)
The Republicans must embrace the hispanic vote.
I HATE to see ANY party pandering to race to gain votes. It really bothers me that cities like SF can snub their noses at Federal Imigration laws and offer the cities as refuges to illegal aliens... but then I also like how those same cites accept SOME Libertarian beliefs, for example, medical marijuana. I guess I want to have it both ways. LOL
The Repubs are a declining demographic of old white people. Romney must be the last rep of our generatiopn.
I think the GOP is often ahead of the Dems in promoting women, people of color, etc. to important positions bu they usually don't make it an issue. Herman Cain isn't white or young but he was laughed at by the GOP. Colin Powell was mentioned for president after Bush 1 but he and his wife didn't want the job. He was labeled a traitor by the far right for backing Obama but I see he simply made a choice many in the middle made... It is better to give up a bit of money with higher tax rates, smart people can always make more, but you can't get back liberties lost that could happen with the wrong supreme court appointments.
It is time for straight speaking young republicans to broaden their constituency.
At least we have Condi Rice out of the GOP machine and back here at Stanford where she can do good for us locals. Those in the GOP lost a good person when they scared her off.

I think the real solution is to look more closely at a the Libertarian Party.... fiscal conservatives and accepting of liberal social ideas like gay marriage and a women's right to choice... but not accepting of the entitlement society that thinks we who work hard are "greedy" if we feel paying them to retire earlier than us for doing less stressful jobs (can't get fired from government jobs... eliminated 95% of most people's stress...) makes us evil.
