I think "aesthetically bizarre" just about sums up my feelings too... Fascinating in some odd way, but also rather ....uhm... repulsive.... (does that make sense?). I don't know if it was fatigue, or maybe just my mood last night, but I was really LOL when I happened to come across those photos while surfing around... a "tree circus"... Hmmmm.... at tree asylum might have been more appropriate.
