Dear Dr., We all have the credentials to be critics.

Personally I prefer the staff that's in place now.

That's not the point.

The point is that our people have been attacked.

We need to put aside divergent opinion and get at this problem.

It seemed as though the conversation here on the VTSS
thread had drifted from anything concerning the subject
into a critique of the current president. This included
an assumption that the current administration is somehow
to blame for market conditions developed during previous
leadership. It doesn't wash.

Passing the buck on one's current portfolio problems in
such a way is dishonest.

The 1993 bombing of the WTC caused trade volume to drop by
about 50% for a day or so as that building housed so many
investment houses, both domestic and foreign. Today, if you
look at the list of tenants you'll find this is still true.
When the trading begins again, it may again be true, but is
harder to guess this time. We don't just have evacuated
buildings, the buildings are gone. The time delay in re-
opening the markets may help to ease the transition. I'm
personally watching the foreign markets to get a feel
for what we might expect on the very short term. So far,
the calm and determined way our New York and Washington problems
are being handled seems to be helping the overseas markets.

I'm not sure those who do business here from other countries
want us to go for the quick fix. But it would seem to me that
the entire world is looking for a villain so they'll feel
better. Not having a target for one's animosity after a
trauma is a great stress builder.

I see no benefit in discussing grammatical style or lack
of it. I've decided it's not in my best interest to watch
TV. There's nothing but repetition. I don't need talking
heads. I'm still reading on the news services (talk about
lack of grammar!) and may yet de-tune to just reading weekly
news magazines. Time will take care of the current problem
both in the recent attacks and the market's current peculiarity.

Regards,
TV
