Tom: Look at all the predictions of market tops in the last couple of years. Look at all the predictions of AOL's top on this thread. Figuring out when some trend has run its course is a lot harder than it looks.

I'm also puzzled about why you think the ISP threat to AOL's growth rate would be any greater now than it was a year or two ago. Personally, I thought AOL didn't stand a chance back when they had that totally insipid browser. But then they changed that and now use MS IE.

As for newbies, I don't see any change in AOL's continued lead in the ability to painlessly bring people online compared, at least, with the ISPs I've signed up with.
