I was kid back then and I never read any commentary about the analysts but I suspect the analysts were more objective back then. We had Citigroup SSB division World com analyst Jack Grubman maintaining his buy rating on WCOM until one day prior to bankruptcy. In his testimony he used the phrase " my honestly held beliefs" forbes.com . Not sure about the analysts but crowd behavior and human nature doesn't change.
