There's always the chance of a driveby (surfby) hijacking.
The Microsoft firewall is ok but it doesn't protect you against outbound programs calling home to daddy (who's your daddy...they want to be). If you happen to get infected with a trojan you'll never know it's doing it's bad thing.

Your PestPatrol is a trojan remover and spyware remover. I use it on a regular basis and it removes many things the other malware removers can not. The best programs I have found to help prevent browser hijacking and keep your system as clean as possible are SpyBot S&D and SpywareBlaster. They both have options that will keep a bunch of known baddies from ever getting on your machine in the first place. It's my understanding that they each place something called a "kill bit" (sort of like an ip blocker) that won't allow you to connect to sites in listed on their "blacklist". Not a sure proof method, but much better than surfing blind. Give QT a try. I have been using it for years...ever since Datek's streamer and ZoneAlarm began having problems coexisting.
