Paracelsian Announces Receipt of Initial BioFIT(TM) Revenues from R.P. Scherer
ITHACA, N.Y., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- (http://www.paracelsian.com) -- Paracelsian Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: PRLN - news) announced today that it has received the first revenues under its agreement with R.P. Scherer North America. The agreement covers the development and marketing of BioFIT™ Herbgels™, the first herbal products that are quality assured based on the BioFIT™ ''functional'' testing program.
''These initial revenues confirm the extraordinary progress Paracelsian has made with R.P. Scherer on the BioFIT™ Herbgel™ program,'' said Bernie Landes, Paracelsian's President and CEO. ''This validates the strategy we adopted last year when the new Board of Directors and new management took the reigns at Paracelsian,'' he added. ''We fully expect revenues to continue flowing, not only from the BioFIT program, but also from our initiatives in our Environmental and Drug Development business segments,'' he concluded.
The BioFIT™ Certification Program provides a new, higher level of quality assurance for herbal products. Instead of relying on traditional analytical techniques to assure the presence of active or presumed active constituents of herbs, BioFIT tests finished products, in the form in which they are consumed, to assure a minimum level of activity in biological mechanisms associated with the herb's claimed benefits. BioFIT products are expected to begin reaching consumers sometime this spring. They will be marketed by several of R.P. Scherer's contract packaging customers under their own proprietary brands.
