Robert -

Concerning you statement which reads: "So the danger to INTC's hegemony is the paradigm shift, something they can't see, and can't anticipate, unless by some chance, they happen to have the Bill Gates of the 2010's working in one of their departments."

Why do you assume that this only pertains to Intel? Paradigm shifts effect all business in every industry, including your much loved Cyrix. I suggest that you read Andy Grove's new book entitled "Only the Paranoid Survive" which talks about exploiting what he calls 'Strategic Inflection Points', among other things. The book proves that Intel is very concerned with these matters and isn't sitting still.

I was recently at a trade show and was talking with a freind who is pro-cyrix like no one i have ever met before (except maybe the infamous Fuchi). I asked him, as i often do, "If cyrix CPU's are so great, then why can't they sell any or at least turn a profit?"

His reply to me was, "Cyrix couldn't sell their microprocessors if they were powering time machines!"

I thought that was pretty funny, especially coming from him. My question for you is how much longer can Cyrix innovate (or keep up) if they continually lose key engineers? After all, it is in those people that the future of any technology company ultimately lies.
