What would cause a computer to not allow you to access a program via Start/Programs? On my friend's ME she can only access programs from icons - if she needs to open up a program that there is no icon for, she had to create a shortcut in order to open it. She is also having problems when she needs to shutdown - sometimes she hits the shutdown button and it doesn't work. She ran virus scans and the computer is free of any virus.
