Bill Bill Bill , your comment "AOL will cut prices soon , and then there will be no reason for the consumer to use an ISP" ??????
I bet you put a lot of thought into that one. I agree that a price cut will help AOL compete with the ISP's on a price basis, but as for a good NON LAGGED internet connection, forget it. Dont compare Netcom with local ISP providers , there is a big difference, the most important being a fast reliable internet connection which Netcom does not have and AOL probably will never have. WHY??? because with a local ISP you get a direct connection to the Internet, with AOL you have to go through their shitty front end. As for AOL's marketing muscle, just remember they have to spend a lot of money to keep those "muscles". They have to constantly advertise to get new subscribers to offset the constant depletion of existing ones. I think the issue that us "AOL Bears" are constantly making is that this company is worth much less than its current price, I was saying this when it was $ 60 , and a couple of months ago when it was in the $ 30's , and I still think the stock price is overvalued even at $ 25. As for the big AOL price cut , that will cut profits and Analysts dont care about how many subscribers they may keep but rather how much less will now make it to the bottom line.
