JC, Re: The problem is that these 'shrewd' moves have not at all borne fruit. AMD must still price their products at a phenomenal discount in order to sell their inventory, which is inherently competitive and even arguably superior to the competition. That's pretty sad.

Perceptions change slowly. But I think the price differences have and continue to narrow. Besides, I'm not sure this is something that a new jingle or two would solve.

One reason the gap didn't close faster than it has is the various infrastructure cost problems AMD has had. They were in effect subsidizing the platform cost, much like Intel subsidizes rambust today.
