1. Most online brokers do not monitor these stocks and so will not let you buy them, and even the few that let you monitor them like etrade still will not let you buy them. You will need to call up you brokers to be able to answer these questions properly as the conditions vary from broker to broker. I bought mine through a traditional broker on margin, but I do have a very long relationship with them and took only a small position.

2. Generally speaking, yes, no margin for BB stocks.

BB stocks are generally avoided because they are usually small companies with low stock prices, small float, very volatile and have less stringent SEC monitoring than the NYSE and the NAZ. As well there is generally less information available to the public to make wise investment choices and are generally not covered by wall street.
