Well, minienvironments are gaining popularity for two reasons. First, they can create a much cleaner environment around the tool than a cleanroom can, because they are controlling a much smaller space. Second, they reduce the amount of environmental control needed for the cleanroom as a whole, which both reduces costs and improves working conditions. (A Class 1 cleanroom is a pretty unpleasant place to visit, much less work.)

Some companies are taking the belt-and-suspenders approach of putting a minienvironment inside a cleanroom, but I haven't seen any data indicating that this is technically necessary.

I don't know enough about DAWK to know how severely this trend will affect them, but if I were an investor I would be very concerned if they weren't at least able to talk coherently about the issue.
