My impression of all this is that Obama is embarrassed or ashamed that we got the bastard. He is perfectly conflicted. He has to crow as a politician while he is embarrassed as a progressive. He knows now (if he didn't before) that Bush did what he did because it was necessary. The proof is, that Obama is doing it too, after he condemned and shamelessly demagogued the very techniques he is now relying on.
