Rarely has such a good post been written. Much thanks RMiethe! A couple different points though: 1) What's loral's DTH system? I got bashed a couple quarters ago for claiming that Loral wanted to move into this area...did I miss it when they actually did? 2) I think a large part of America is the target market for Globalstar, and Canada as well. There are lots of people who regularly find themselves in situations without cellphone access and who are wealthy enough to upgrade to a G* phone. My oft repeated comments about boaters are particular here as most pleasure craft stay close to the coast and don't get much cell access. (Wanna go to the San Juans? ITs amazing, but don't take a Cellphone!) 3) I'm often perplexed about the technophobes you mention. There's an equally virulent group, though, that get so sold on one particular technology that it completely clouds their vision about reality and physics. (CDMA supporters without 2 years of college physics can fall into this trap.) But its amazing the number of technophobes who at the same time love those internet stocks. The market is a great one for suckering in people, and the suckers love momentum! It'll be great for us when we have the momentum, but a little bit of political BS (loral) or a low stock price (G* I*) attracks the anti-momentum suckers who feel some pleasure at bashing perfectly good companies.
