All, does anyone see what I see? The Korean government works very closely with Korean companies. The companies say they will choose W-CDMA but the final decision will be made by the government. Now the government can come to Qualcomm and say "We want what's best for our country but we don't want to upset our carriers. What kind of bone can you throw us so we can choose CDMA2000 as the only 3G standard? Remember the great deal you gave us when we went with IS-95? We want something like that only bigger." Only problem is I think Qualcomm will see this as a big bluff. They might be willing to grant minor concessions of the type that won't affect their ability to charge others on a fair and equitable basis in order to get things moving a little more quickly but I hope they stand firm. We might have to wait until early 2001 to see the kind of value we see in Qualcomm reflected in the shares but things could also clear up quickly like when the thick fog is replaced by brilliant sunshine.
