INTERNATIONAL ROAMING FUTURE'S
LOOKING BRIGHT

MIAMI - The number of people making use of international wireless roaming services could grow from 32 million at the end of
1998 to 50 million by 2003 as the wireless industry's annual revenue from this type of roaming reaches as high as $9.2 billion to
$11 billion, according to Michael Krier, Latin America director for Strategis Group, the Washington-based consulting firm.
However, for the industry to fully realize its revenue potential - or reach the "sweet spot" in the eyes of Wall Street - it also must
adapt its service offerings for the converging technologies of personal computing, television and telecommunications, Soundview
Technology Group analyst Timothy O'Neil said on the second day of the four-day Wireless Partnering conference here.

"The future is wireless," the New York-based O'Neil said. "The future is a new telecommunications segment... which is going to
combine with [information technology]."

O'Neil alluded to the failure of mobile satellite services provider Iridium LCC [IRID] to come close to its subscriber projections
when he cautioned conference participants about trying to impress securities analysts. "Don't go out and promise to be bigger
than you are, or promise to get all these roaming agreements and not deliver on them," he said. "It will devalue your stock."
