No sharing? No slowing? DSL obsolete? Fiber optics Obsolete? Yeah right.

First off, DSL is not "sharing", anymore than wireless is, which has a higher data rate than the "fixed" feature of IMT-2000. No one still has told us what the cost of 2 Mbps connection wireless, but we have cost for 14.4 Kbps, which is 9.95 plus per minute for Sprint and T is charging by the Kilo's. Cable is an Ethernet that is "shared" as that is the nature of Ethernet.

Secondly, in a finite bandwidth, you can only have so much
bits transmitted at one time. Packet or otherwise. If everyone is viewing on demand video, that channel becomes full and you will not be able to access it. IF everyone is doing video calls, that channel will become full and again you will not be able to access it. You think that folks will tolerate waiting to make a call or to use the Internet?

Lastily, fiber is the Internet. You will never get away from it, whether directly or indirectly. There is upgrades going on and further deployment of fiber everyday to keep pace with the data explosion. You think that 30 MHz operators can compete with an OC-192?

IF Gilder is saying that the world will do away with wireline, then he needs to be drug tested.....
