I forgot that it was an Airbus.

The envelope at high speed, high altitude, is shockingly small, something like 20 knots. Without the airspeed indication and with turbulent air, tough to keep the aircraft in the envelope.

I'd think that with the limited situational input they had that they'd rather risk overspeeding than a high speed stall and try to point the nose down. Besides, they should have still gotten a tell tale stall buffeting...

All goes back to pitot tubes that have, unexpectedly, been replaced on all the Airbusses.

Hhuuumm, defective heaters?..
