Patron,

I think the news that Captain Kirk wants to increase his GM holdings helped GM.

Ford will probably continue down until the Junior has laid out some new ideas. I have heard a few themes repeated recently from Ford personnel. Ford is going to get smaller. Ford is going to focus on growth in emerging markets, because there will be NO growth here. And major headcutting. It is coming and people at Ford (and suppliers that support Ford) are getting very nervous. I must have had a half dozen requests to help people find a new job in the past month.

As we have discussed on Mish's thread. Delphi and Visteon have long been short targets, as I expected that both will belly up. The situation with Visteon is no longer very clear to me, as this transfer of employees and plants back to Ford last month has clouded the issue. That said, I fully expect that Visteon will not survive in its present form, and they will NEVER make a profit.

The list of stocks that will be affected by a GM or Ford BK is huge. I would need to give some thought to a short list of "one god" suppliers that are already having cash or profit concerns.

I'll think about this when I get back to my office next week.
