Interesting AMPEX employment postings. Someone previously posted about some of the keepering executive and senior technical postions open at Ampex.
I looked again, and there were several interesting positions - keepered, DST, and others. I cut out most of the descriptions and skillsets (this is long enough already)
I did find the level of expertise they were looking for and the number of positions to be significant. In my opinion, this is a confidant, forward looking company.

DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT MARKETING
This position develops product marketing communication plan, manages the implementation/launch/pricing/positioning activities for AMPEX DST tape systems.
TECHNICAL MARKETING MANAGER
This position is the technical liaison with strategic partners. It manages/evaluate, through benchmarking activity , the performance of Ampex drives with hardware platforms and 3rd party SW.... It is responsible for technical competitive analysis.
DIRECTOR OF MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

Senior Development Engineer - Hard Disc Media Test & Evaluation. Ampex is seeking a unique individual to work in the development of novel hard disc technology. The position requires an electrical engineering background with specific experience working with media and head test systems, in particular Guzic test stations and related techniques. The individual should have at least two years of experience and be well grounded in the basics of head/media interactions. Additional background in understanding disc drive requirements as they relate to media and heads is required and a good grasp of channel issues for both peak detect and PRML systems would be helpful. You will work with a small team which is developing novel technologies that have applicability to the disc drive industry. The individual will be an integral and critical member of the team and will participate in setting technical direction, developing new concepts, as well as interacting with a wide variety of potential disc drive customers.
Software Design Test Engineer - You will design custom hardware and software test controls for PWA's and Systems test, write test procedures and perform design verification for new designs.
Test Engineer - This position's primary responsibility will be writing test scripts and regression testing utility programs and device driver software designed to support Ampex tape drives and automated tape libraries in multiple UNIX environments. Most test scripts will be written in the Tcl/Tk scripting language, with some underlying routines written in C, C++, or shell languages.
Senior Software Engineer (UNIX Device Driver Developer) - Requires BSEE/CS (MS preferred) as well as experience in the development of UNIX device drivers. In-depth knowledge of C and UNIX. Multi-platform experience such as Sun/Solaris, IBM/AIX, SGI/IRIX, DEC/Digital Unix and HP/HP-UX is preferred. Understanding of tape-based i/o devices is desired... esponsibilities - Develop UNIX device drivers (written in C) for Ampex's range of SCSI based tape recording systems including standalone drives and automated cartridge libraries. This entails porting to platforms not currently supported as well as maintaining existing products.
Senior Software Engineer (Real Time Firmware) - You will work as a team member on the Firmware Development team for AMPEX automated cartridge library systems to assist the product development cycle.

ASSEMBLER - HEAD LAB - Job Function: You will assemble longitudinal heads which are a miniature electromechanical assembly using a microscope and inspection of WIP.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANT - SWING SHIFT - Job Function: Mounting recording tips onto head assembly using highly sophisticated mounting machines.
