Josh, Congrats on your new thread. Looks like its already popular. I am too busy to post to it today but will bookmark it for later. I scanned the posts and will just add two comments of my own.
1. I served in USMC as Forward Observer (F.O.) radio operator in Nam. So, anyone who was there knows I was SURROUNDED by my fellow troops to PROTECT ME, and I guess maybe my radio too!! (gg). Built lifelong relationships with some of those guys.
2. My brother Henry served in US Army in Korea and captured a NK soldier. Rest of his platoon wanted to kill the prisoner, but my brother was a softie. He was afraid to send him to the rear with others as they would have shot him so he kept this prisoner with him for days. The
guy carried his pack etc and slept in his sleeping bag WITH MY BROTHER. haha. Finally one night, in the middle of a firefight, my brother pointed him down the hill and told him to beat it. Kind of funny dont you think, sort of like some of the Civil War stories that are made into movies. jdn

Ps; heres another one, my oldest brother served in USMC in WWII. Fought several campaigns but on Okinawa captured a Japanese General. The man was educated in Harvard and spoke perfect english. Years later 1953 that General came to USA and visited our family. Brought ME his combat uniform. I was only 8 but it basically fit me, give you an idea how short he was. Problem was when we played WAR a popular game in those days, I always had to be the JAP cause I had the uniform. haha. jdn
