Mornin' folks,

A few economic reports due at 8:30am today:

Retail Sales for April:
consensus: 0.7%
prior: 0.3%

Retail Sales Ex-Auto for April:
consensus: 0.5%
prior: 0.1%

Initial Claims (week of 05/07):
consensus: 325K
prior: 333K

Crude oil failure from the double-top formation from March continues, now testing chart support and looking very weak. Crude is trading down below $50 again, the lowest levels since February:

E-mini Naz 100 futures are hovering just under resistance, and no doubt will go nowhere until 0830:

Asian markets closed mixed (Japan down, Taiwan and HK up), European markets are trading up.

Things will become clearer after 0830, but odds are the market will find some way to interpret whatever is reported as good news, which will be the "reason" for a rally.

We'll see....
