More on sensors...

Here's a fairly clear description of the new Sigma Quattro's foveon sensor:
imaging-resource.com

I recently picked up one of the discontinued DP2 Merrills after the price fell to its current giveaway level.
I've only had the time for a few shots, but suffice it to say that the level of detail is stunning - way beyond anything I can get with ASPC DSLRs.
Just as impressive is the lens - wide open at f2.8, it's quite hard to see any drop off in resolution right out to the corners.

The handling is rubbish - it takes several seconds to process each shot before you can take another - and the battery life approximates the capacity of an old 36 exposure roll of film. You have to use a tripod for anything but bright sunlight.
Worth the hassle, though.
