The Relationship Between Church Membership and Prejudice

religioustolerance.org

This is what I found most interesting in a study on this subject (it was done in the 1950's, so who knows). But anyway, in the 1950's, the study found that though those who never went to church exhibited a low level of prejudice, those who went very frequently (over 11 times a month) were the least prejudiced of all.

The most highly prejudiced in the 1950's, at least, according to the study, were those who went once or twice a month.

The conclusion was that the three studies showed that churches did not create prejudice in people.

At the URL above, there's an interesting study done in the 1960's that also might be germane to the topic of this thread. (Only that 1960 study is cited; it would be interesting to know what other sociological research has been done on this and related subjects since that time.)
