Archie, You know, maybe the modem won't come to anything. But I wonder what directions Iomega might be taking to keep ahead of everyone. What if they've decided to redefine peripherals. They could be applying their extremely successful market analysis techniques that defined the ideal Zip configuration and pricing in the first place. A new modem would fit into this senario quite well. I should think that peripherals that require the use of expendables (such as Zip disks or printer cartridges) would be very desireable to get into and redefine. They may want to grab the rewritable CD market by coming out with very inexpensive units? How about digital camera memory gizmos - you know - battery driven Zips that can readout cameras in the field. Nowadays you have to buy expensive PCMCIA Cards to do that and you only get a few megabytes or haul around a notebook computer to download the data every so often.

Anyway, it's kind of fun to think about. Iomega has been hiring a bunch of people for R&D. They gotta R&D something, right?

Jeff
