I saw my urologist yesterday for a final review of my recent kidney cancer op. It was fine, as are my lungs. I have another cyst on the bottom of the kidney that was operated on that he doesn't like. So another recheck in 6 months. And I would bet another operation. I will tell him to install a zipper this time. :>)

The bad news was my Atkins diet. He told me that with my gout history and my high Creatinine level that Atkins would end up giving me kidney stones. I checked the scales when I went in, and I had lost 3 1/2 lbs in 3 days. I know it had to be mainly water, but damn!!

So I will stay on a modified "South Beach," with no wheat of any kind allowed. I have discovered that my low LDL of 68 combined with a low HDL of 38 means my heart disease involves having a lot of small LDL particles, which don't show up on the standard Lipid panel. The best way to lower my small LDL is to lose weight and go off wheat.

So I am still on a diet, folks!
