As long as the Java bytecodes remain the same, It shouldn't make much of a difference if HP offers its own JVM, though PTSC may naturally have to port and support two virtual machines for running Java if it chooses to do so. I agree that the competitive pricing may actually encourage the market to adopt the technology faster in that case.
