IBM( International Business Machines Corp )computers to use Intel( Intel
Corp )chip - WSJ

NEW YORK, Oct 24 (Reuter) - IBM Corp has created a unit to make computer workstations based on Intel Corp's Pentium Pro
microprocessor and Microsoft Corp Windows NT software, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

The newspaper cited "industry executives" as saying the machines, which are to come out next March, would be designed for
scientists, engineers, and other people who need powerful desktop computers to manage numbers, create three-dimensional images,
and handle other technical jobs.

It said IBM's new strategy would be contained within its personal computer division.

The strategy would also receive expertise from the division in charge of the RS/6000 workstation line as well as tap into that same
division's sales channels, it said.

The newspaper said IBM would likely price the machines between $4,000 and $10,000.

More good news. Enjoy the ride.
