Interesting comparison. A fine "mess" we've gotten into with our outsourcing.

Milo Minderbinder is the mess officer at the United States Army Air Forces base who becomes obsessed with expanding mess operations (in which he and everyone else "has a share").
Minderbinder, unlike most characters in Catch-22, who are the subject of only one chapter, is the subject of three chapters (Chapter 22: "Milo the Mayor", Chapter 24: "Milo" and Chapter 35: "Milo the Militant"). He is one of the main characters in the novel. His most interesting attributes are his complete amorality without self-awareness, and his circular logic in running his Syndicate.

I can see how US companies that try to do the right thing and produce quality for cheaper slowly get into a cycle of regressive manufacturing and finally collapse after facing competition from outsourcing. Circular logic leads to bad outcomes, especially when charged with a "Faustian Spirit" and hubris. Somewhere, the right thing gets lost in the priority shuffle between entrepreneurs, consumers, and financiers.

Hubris is leading to a false hyper-morality that the virtue signaling elite are trying to "Faust" on us to get us all grouped up into their AI monitor/control-loop. That they're willing to use governments now to create a fake reality, or at least an edited reality, in the case of the altered Reagan speech, is telling in terms of how far they will go. They've become too focused on themselves as the messengers.
