Every bit of homework I've done suggests that lithium-ion (Li-Ion) and nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries are the only real viable alternatives for notebook computers, cellphones, and camcorders and the like - - - which is why Motorola, Ericsson, and the Japanese are using them.

AER's batteries are simply too large, too heavy, too expensive, and short-lived to be of use. It was a good idea for 1988, but it's 1997 now. No wonder nothing they put on the market sells. It's sort of like "Moore's Law" is working against them, and they will never be able to find a market niche for their products.

I think they should call it quits. It would be better for everyone involved.
