Gordon, Not sure when the Fed Open Markets Cmte meets but I believe it is soon. IMO, an interest rate hike is a positive for precious metals stocks, because interest rates are hiked because of a perceived threat of inflation. What is the traditional hedge against inflation? Precious metals.

I also think the dessert dirt damage last week was due to a couple of factors, but not because of a possible interest rate hike. First, they have all had nice runups in the past few weeks. Second, the Delgratia and Bre X fiascos, and third, our friends the shorties.
