OT: SOX components are weighted at the same number of average shares. Therefore any higher priced issue has a heavier weighting in the SOX.

This is not true for the SMH or semiconductor holder which has its highest weighting determined quite differently with INTC being I believe the highest weighted stock.

I broke all this out last year on the Wennerstrom thread.

CY or any other semiconductor stock has an indirect effect on the index. When there is good news for the industry even outside of the SOX components it is indirectly reflected.

All these stocks move like a herd. ALL OF THEM.

Of course the strongest and weakest will be singled out for better or much worse treatment.
