John - It may be grasping at straws, but one possible reason for Intel claiming record demand and retailers claiming slow demand might be Sony's entry into the PC business. If they are stocking up on CPUs this might cause a temporary shortage of chips, with a corresponding rosy picture for Intel. Any thoughts? Aaron
